Professional
As president and CEO of Fi Plan Partners, Greg Powell advises organizations, families, and individuals who wish to enhance and preserve their wealth. If you are around Greg for just a few minutes, you will quickly learn that he loves to ask questions and create dialogue. These two things are a driving force in Your Financial House®, a nationally acclaimed management tool he created which gives clients an insightful and enjoyable experience of bringing all aspects of their financial life under one roof. Referred to as “the Builder,” Greg oversees the building of Your Financial House® just like the builder who built your home.
In 2002, Greg was one of five investment professionals that Research magazine inducted into its Advisors Hall of Fame, an honor reserved for those who are, according to the editors, “judged by their clients, their colleagues, and by industry notables as representing the very best the industry has to offer.” He is a member of the National Board of Directors for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and is a member and former Chairman of the Board of Directors for the NFIB of Alabama. In addition, NFIB named Powell 2009 Small Business Champion of the Southern Region. He is the former President and current member of the Advisory Board for Special Equestrians.
In his long standing involvement with Samford University, Powell is on the Board of Overseers, a member and former Chairman of Samford University’s Brock School of Business Advisory Board, and the school chose Greg as their 2009 Alumnus of the Year. He is also the former President of the Samford University Alumni Association and an active member of the Athletic Foundation. Greg currently serves on the Samford Athletic Executive Committee. In 2010, Samford University honored Greg as the Volunteer in Philanthropy with the Alabama Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
Personal
When Greg is not in the depths of the financial industry or leading a nonprofit organization to new heights, he spends most of his time with his wife, Peggy, and three daughters supporting them in their various activities. A seeker of knowledge and a researcher of learning, Greg somehow manages to consistently carve out time in his busy schedule to read books of all kinds, from early American history to various business books. He also has a deep passion for all kinds of sports throughout all the athletic seasons.
